To strengthen our finance department, we are looking for an experienced and driven Chief Accountant.

Your role

As Chief Accountant, you will have overall responsibility for the accounting activities at Raff Plastics. Together with your accounting colleague, you will ensure accurate financial administration, monitor financial processes and act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities

• Responsible for general and analytical accounting.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
• Coordinate and review accounting activities.
• Prepare annual accounts and tax returns, including VAT, corporate income tax and Intrastat.
• Monitor cash flow, budgets and financial reporting.
• Prepare management reports and financial analyses.
• Liaise with statutory auditors, auditors, banks and external accountants.
• Ensure compliance with accounting and tax legislation.
• Actively contribute to process optimisation and digitalisation within the finance department.
• Support management with financial insights and advice.

Your profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Taxation, Business Administration or a related field.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in an accounting role.
• In-depth knowledge of Belgian accounting and tax regulations.
• Experience in accounting within an international context.
• Strong analytical skills and a meticulous approach to work.
• Experience with ERP systems — knowledge of Microsoft Business Central is an asset — and advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Strong communication skills and a hands-on mentality.
• Discreet, reliable and results-oriented.
• Good command of Dutch and a working knowledge of French and English.

Commercial manager with a passion for manufacturing

At RAFF Plastics, we don't sell standard products—we deliver tailor-made solutions within a circular value chain. As Commercial Manager, you are the vital link between the market and our production facility. You are responsible for the entire commercial process, from sourcing waste streams and raw materials to selling our high-quality recycled plastic granulates to key customers.

Your responsibilities
Your role combines both purchasing and sales:

• Purchasing: You source waste materials, packaging and auxiliary materials. You visit suppliers to assess the quality of incoming waste streams and negotiate competitive prices in a highly volatile market.
• Sales & Key Account Management: You manage relationships with approximately 20 major key accounts. You communicate monthly price updates and develop a deep understanding of your customers' needs.
• Connecting Sales and Operations: You work closely with the Operations Manager. You only sell what is technically feasible and purchase what production requires. You understand that quality and operational feasibility are the foundation of every successful partnership.
• Team Support: You provide guidance to two experienced colleagues responsible for internal administration, order processing and transport planning. You act as their point of contact for complex decisions, such as profitability calculations and logistical challenges.
• Market Intelligence & Strategy: You closely monitor energy prices and raw material indices on a daily basis. You support customer and supplier audits and contribute to new business initiatives, such as developing solutions for specific waste streams within the applicable regulatory framework.
• You report directly to the CEO.

Profile
-We are looking for a commercially driven professional with a strong interest in manufacturing. You understand that flexibility and speed are essential in a Just-in-Time (JIT) production environment.

• Curious by nature: Experience in the plastics industry is not required, but you are eager to learn about recycling processes, materials and the complex regulatory framework surrounding waste management.
• Commercial mindset: You are a skilled negotiator who enjoys the dynamics of monthly pricing and building long-term partnerships.
• Agile & proactive: You thrive in the reality of a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You closely monitor price fluctuations and confidently challenge suppliers when necessary.
• Operational insight: You have an affinity for manufacturing and logistics. You understand that your purchasing decisions directly impact production efficiency and machine performance. You have a genuine interest in how products are made and recognize that waste is not a standard commodity—success starts with understanding the raw materials.
• Collaborative personality: You believe that sales and production go hand in hand and enjoy working across departments.
• Team player: You are a coach and facilitator rather than a hierarchical manager.
• Relationship builder: You value long-term partnerships over short-term gains. You communicate fluently in Dutch and English and enjoy spending approximately one day per week visiting suppliers and customers.

• Transport plastic waste and recycled materials between our suppliers/customers and our site in Houthulst.
• Drive mainly within the Benelux, with routes extending to the Paris region and the German border area.
• Follow the transport schedule and act as the primary point of contact for our customers.
• Work in a daytime schedule, with occasional overnight stays in consultation.

What are we looking for?

• You hold a valid CE driving licence and a valid driver qualification card.
• You are reliable, independent, and customer-oriented.
• You have a good command of Dutch.
