Business controller

Role
A data-driven business partner who translates numbers into strategic impact.

As a Business Controller, you transform operational and financial data into strategic insights and practical management tools. You contribute to building a professional controlling framework that enables the organization to proactively manage cost pricing, profitability, capacity, and operational efficiency.
You report directly to the CEO, act as a strategic sparring partner, and remain closely connected to the operational reality of the plant. In the initial phase, your focus will be on creating data transparency and structuring financial and operational insights. Over time, your role will evolve into that of a fully-fledged business partner who actively advises on investment decisions and strategic growth initiatives.

Your responsibilities:
Cost pricing & profitability

You develop, refine, and implement robust costing models for granulates and regrinds, integrating raw materials, yields, energy consumption, labor, and overhead costs.
You create visibility into actual margins and profitability by product, customer, order, and output type.
You identify structural profit and loss drivers within the production process and critically challenge pricing and product-related decisions.
You translate key operational parameters (tonnage, production days, machine utilization) into clear and actionable financial impact analyses.

Production & operational controlling

  • You develop, monitor, and optimize performance indicators (KPIs) related to production output, efficiency, energy intensity, and workforce utilization.
  • You analyze and explain operational variances (e.g., volume fluctuations, absenteeism impact, equipment utilization).
  • You work closely with the Plant Manager to translate operational insights into concrete optimization initiatives with measurable impact.
  • You support decision-making regarding capacity expansion, production planning, and overall site efficiency.

Budgeting, forecasting & reporting

  • You build a structured and recurring management reporting framework for the executive team.
  • You proactively conduct scenario analyses related to volume dynamics, energy rates, and other relevant external factors.
  • You implement an accurate provisioning system to enable timely and well-founded business steering.

Processes, systems & data

  • You actively contribute to the development and optimization of Power BI dashboards, with a focus on real-time and actionable management information.
  • You strengthen data flows and data quality across finance, logistics, and production.
  • You actively contribute to fostering a data-driven decision-making culture.

Finance & organization

  • You lead and coach the internal accounting team (2 employees).
  • You support financing applications and business cases and maintain relationships with financial institutions.
  • You optimize financial and administrative processes to improve the efficiency and quality of the accounting function.

Profile

  • You hold a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (such as Business Engineering, Business Economics, or Accounting & Corporate Finance).
  • You have built a solid and proven track record as a (Business) Controller within an industrial manufacturing environment. Experience in the process industry or recycling sector is a strong asset, enabling you to quickly understand the specific dynamics of our business.
  • You possess in-depth knowledge of industrial cost accounting and have a strong affinity with operational manufacturing processes. Topics such as energy intensity, yield losses, and efficient workforce deployment are familiar territory to you.
  • You are technologically savvy and have experience working with modern ERP systems.
  • You have strong analytical skills and the ability to transform complex and unstructured data streams into clear, strategic, and actionable management information.
  • You are a self-starting, results-oriented professional with a hands-on mentality. The dynamics and flexibility of an ambitious SME environment suit your way of working perfectly.
  • You are a strong communicator, intellectually curious, and pragmatic. You are a natural relationship builder who moves effortlessly between the production floor and the boardroom, confidently and constructively challenging existing assumptions with data-driven insights.
  • You communicate fluently in both Dutch and English.

Technical commercial manager

Role
Commercial manager with a passion for manufacturing

At RAFF Plastics, we don't sell standard products—we deliver tailor-made solutions within a circular value chain. As Commercial Manager, you are the vital link between the market and our production facility. You are responsible for the entire commercial process, from sourcing waste streams and raw materials to selling our high-quality recycled plastic granulates to key customers.

Your responsibilities
Your role combines both purchasing and sales:

  • Purchasing: You source waste materials, packaging and auxiliary materials. You visit suppliers to assess the quality of incoming waste streams and negotiate competitive prices in a highly volatile market.
  • Sales & Key Account Management: You manage relationships with approximately 20 major key accounts. You communicate monthly price updates and develop a deep understanding of your customers' needs.
  • Connecting Sales and Operations: You work closely with the Operations Manager. You only sell what is technically feasible and purchase what production requires. You understand that quality and operational feasibility are the foundation of every successful partnership.
  • Team Support: You provide guidance to two experienced colleagues responsible for internal administration, order processing and transport planning. You act as their point of contact for complex decisions, such as profitability calculations and logistical challenges.
  • Market Intelligence & Strategy: You closely monitor energy prices and raw material indices on a daily basis. You support customer and supplier audits and contribute to new business initiatives, such as developing solutions for specific waste streams within the applicable regulatory framework.
  • You report directly to the CEO.

Profile
-We are looking for a commercially driven professional with a strong interest in manufacturing. You understand that flexibility and speed are essential in a Just-in-Time (JIT) production environment.

  • Curious by nature: Experience in the plastics industry is not required, but you are eager to learn about recycling processes, materials and the complex regulatory framework surrounding waste management.
  • Commercial mindset: You are a skilled negotiator who enjoys the dynamics of monthly pricing and building long-term partnerships.
  • Agile & proactive: You thrive in the reality of a 24/7 manufacturing environment. You closely monitor price fluctuations and confidently challenge suppliers when necessary.
  • Operational insight: You have an affinity for manufacturing and logistics. You understand that your purchasing decisions directly impact production efficiency and machine performance. You have a genuine interest in how products are made and recognize that waste is not a standard commodity—success starts with understanding the raw materials.
  • Collaborative personality: You believe that sales and production go hand in hand and enjoy working across departments.
  • Team player: You are a coach and facilitator rather than a hierarchical manager.
  • Relationship builder: You value long-term partnerships over short-term gains. You communicate fluently in Dutch and English and enjoy spending approximately one day per week visiting suppliers and customers.

What we offer

  • You will join an ambitious and growing family-owned company where decision-making is fast and your impact is immediately visible.
  • A varied role: You'll work in a diverse position where you directly influence the company's margins and strategic direction.
  • A key position: You will be the face of RAFF Plastics for both suppliers and strategic customers.
  • A crucial link: Your purchasing and sales decisions enable our drivers, planners and machine operators to perform at their best.
  • A warm family culture: RAFF Plastics is a successful family business with ambitious growth plans, where people feel respected and valued. You'll be part of an industry with significant future potential while contributing to a more sustainable world.
